Abouts Us

The Department of Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering was established in the year 2002 with an initial intake of 30 students for UG degree programme with the approval from AICTE. The student intake was further increased to 60 in the year 2007.Five batches of students have passed out from the department. The department has a team of highly qualified, dedicated and motivated faculty and well equipped laboratories.

An independent Instrumentation block in annexure building houses the laboratories, classrooms, faculty rooms, sophisticated Modeling and Simulation lab, Seminar hall, conference hall and Department library. The department has a wide range of teaching activities, grouped under broad areas, namely process control, Industrial Instrumentation, Transducer Engineering, Virtual Instrumentation and VLSI. The classrooms are equipped with audio-visual equipment to facilitate effective learning. They are designed to promote maximum interaction between the faculty and the students.

We are running the Association of EIE called “INSTRUZ 04” from 2004 onwards and it has conducted successfully five National Conferences and five students’ technical symposiums. We send students for in-plant training. We provide special coaching to the needy students. Students are going for industrial visits every semester. On a regular basis, we hold guest lectures by experts and eminent persons from various fields.

The department prepares the graduates to undertake design, research and maintenance activities to choose their careers in power plant maintenance, monitoring and control engineering.

This lab was started in 2004. It is one of the core lab. Students do their mini projects and mega projects in this lab in addition to their regular lab classes. This lab is equipped with different kind of sensors and transducers, Speed Measurement Trainer, Temperature  control Trainer kit (J & RTD), Opto Electric Transducer Trainer, Strain Gauge, Load cell, Characteristics of Thermistor Kit, J,K Thermocouple and RTD-Pt100 sensors, Low Pressure Generation Pump, PID Controller with Motor setup, Load cell -10Kg sensor, Load cell with Digital Indicator, LVDT Trainer kit, Electrical Rotary and Linear Actuator etc.  Measurements Laboratory is equipped with Phantom loading, various bridge calibrating setups etc., and In addition calibration of various meters can also be performed.

COMPUTER CONTROL OF PROCESS LABORATORY

The Computer Control of Process Lab aims at imparting, the students, the technical knowledge and skills required in the field of Process Identification, Control, monitoring and automation. The lab incorporates most vital control systems used in the modern industrial automation. Students learn and practice to control the process stations, program a digital PID controller to control the speed of the servo motor and program, configure and control the bottle filling system, through a remote PLC controller. The programming and configuration is done using the Pentium IV processor and downloaded into the controller through the serial communication port. Students simulate the various functional block programs using the GEFANUC LOGO PLC. Analog I/Os also can be connected to this PLC. The most unique feature of the lab which resembles a high-tech industry is Distributed Control System (DCS) and Supervisory control and Data Acquisition System(SCADA).

This is a unique laboratory which provides the elaborate knowledge about control of different process plants like Temperature, Pressure, Flow, and Level. It includes systems to study about Feed-forward, cascade and ratio control schemes. There also exists a set-up to study about the response of two tank interacting & non interacting system and control valve characteristics. Students are also trained to study about the response of first order and second order system using MATLAB simulation.

Virtual Instrumentation Lab comes under the Advanced Instrumentation Lab in the EIE department. It was established in the year 2009. The lab was started to motivate the students towards Research and expose them to advanced industrial technology. This Lab imparts software learning and real time interfacing to develop projects. It includes recent version of Labview 8.2.1 software, PCI 6024E.6025E, SCC2345, USB, DAC, Thermocouple and accelerometer modules, NI - ELVIS, DSP unit and recent software packages.


Devices and Circuits Laboratory

It consists of different basic electronic devices like BJT, JFET, MOSFET, SCR, etc., for conducting experiments relevant to electrical and electronic devices and circuits. This lab is adequately equipped with major devices for signal generation like function generators, signal generators and measuring devices like Cathode Ray Oscilloscope (CRO), voltmeters, ammeters, wattmeters, multimeters etc., There are fifteen working tables with single phase supply and two separate three phase connections are available for conducting the three phase experiments.
