The Mahendra Engineering College (MEC) founded in the year 1995 by a dedicated philanthropist Mr.M.G.Bharathkumar, who started the institution with a vision and mission of facilitating technical education for rural based students. The institution is grown from strength to strength and taken shape with 8 U.G. courses and 4 P.G. courses in Engineering and Technology apart from M.C.A. and M.B.A. course. The institution is regarded as "Temple of Learning" which speaks volumes of conducive atmosphere and environment available for the learners.

Dr. R. Samson Ravindran, the Principal is one of the most talented and a skillful administrator. He has been devoutedly endeavoured with a single mind to lift this institution to still higher levels of glory with a wide range of specializations at the different strata of study. He has been awarded Ph.D., for his Research work in the area of Solar Energy and his relentless pursuit of knowledge is exemplified in his endeavour as he had been awarded for his second Ph.D., in Bio-Engineering.

He has visited countries like France, UK, Germany, Switzerland, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand to make study about higher Technical Education and Solar Power Projects. He has also presented many papers on Solar Power Projects, Bio-imaging and Telemedicine in various National and International Conferences and Journals.
