MISSION
To develop and disseminate effectively the technical information aimed at improving the infrastructure and environmental well-being of the society. The Programme aims to provide a well-rounded and superior engineering education that produce talented graduates and creative engineers.
OBECTIVES
- To produce graduates who have a strong foundation of scientific and technical knowledge and are equipped with problem solving, teamwork, and communication skills that will serve them throughout their career;
- To produce graduates who have the ability to pursue careers as practicing civil engineers;
- To produce graduates who have the ability to pursue advanced studies in all the grids of Civil Engineering.
- To produce graduates who have the ability to assume professional leadership roles; and
- To produce graduates with skills and qualifications for careers outside the traditional focus areas of Civil Engineering.
Laboratories
The Department has the following well equipped laboratories to cater to the university curriculum and modern technological development.
- Material Testing Laboratory.
- Geotechnical Laboratory.
- Strength of Materials Laboratory.
- Surveying Laboratory.
- Fluid Mechanics Laboratory.
- Transportation Laboratory.
- Environmental Engineering Laboratory.
- CAD Laboratory.
- Geology Laboratory.
Special equipments like Universal Testing Machine, Compression Testing Machine, Torsion Testing Machine, Total Station, Direct Shear Apparatus, Triaxial Compression, and California Bearing Ratio Apparatus, are available for experimentation.
Civil Engineering Association (CEA)
The Civil Engineering Association was created for the purpose of providing ample opportunities to the students to exhibit their talents in all the aspects. The Association organizes various activities and events, to unfold the prospects of Civil Engineering in the present day world. Industrial Visits, Talks by prominent experts in the field, acquainting the students about the recent developments in the Industry such as emerging building trends, useful software, etc.
Conferences and Symposia
The Department organized 3 National Conferences namely NSDMM 06, ETCM 07, NCRTC 08 to encourage research and education in the field of Civil Engineering and 2 National Symposia FUEGO 06, REICON 08 to enlighten the budding engineers to compete and excel in the frontier areas of Civil Engineering.
